News Update

FANS!
-The Pier 6 Wrestling Shakedown TV Title Tournament continues THIS WEEKEND on Shakedown TV. This week's opening round matches are:
-----Brodie Lee vs. Kid Justice
-----Jonny Puma vs. Sik Rik Matrix

You know where to watch it. If not, click on "P6W Television Network" for times and stations. If it's anything like last week's opening round matches, you'll need a tranquilizer when it's over!

- The next P6W show will be Sunday, November 16, at Pineapple Jack's in Rochester, NY. Bell time is 4 PM. YES, THIS IS A TELEVISION TAPING. Hey Bills' fans: The Bills are playing on Monday night that weekend, so don't use football as an excuse for missing the hard-hitting wrasslin' action. (You may have heard that he show was scheduled for Nov. 9- that is now incorrect, and Nov. 16 IS official.)

-Back to the TV Title tournament- Rik Matrix defeated H.C. Loc two weeks ago, but how much damage did Loc do to Matrix's injured left arm? In a segment on Murphy's Pub, Jonny Puma made it fairly clear that he hired H.C. as a mercenary to soften up Matrix for his opening round match vs. Puma. Will it end up being money well spent by Jonny? Stay tuned.....

-Of course, Jonny Puma has returned from his NorthEast Hilarity Comedy Tour. How well it did depends on who you talk to. Puma's "people" claim Standing-Room-Only crowds across the East Coast. Others say that attendance in the low 20's was the norm......

- Somebody missed the message in my last Blog posting. I'm still reading John Milton's "Paradise Lost". Can somebody please tell a certain someone what that means?

-Message to the Bum Fight Club- It's OK to shower more than once a week, change your your clothes more than twice a month, and to use deodorant soap, mouthwash and lice removers... Please....

- Uh oh...Big Rig Brodie Lee's suspension has expired, and he's back for the title tourney. Will the maniacal 6'7" truck driver keep his focus on the title belt, or will he continue to injure officials, wrestlers and announcers once again?

- What's going on at our house near the lake shore? You'll find out soon, if you don't know already. KEEP SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, open for more exciting wrestling action presented by P6W. Check this website for more info as it develops.

-Word has it that Eric Everlast is angry, and not just at Troy Buchannan. Believe you me, you don't want to be around Everlast when he's angry.....

-Newest endorsed product to be coming from Pier 6 Wrestling: Disposable facial tissues! Use it once (or twice), then throw it away!

ANOTHER blog from Ivan the Impaler!

-That's right, FANS! 2 updates in one week!

-TWO of the matches in the opening-round of the Pier 6 Wrestling Shakedown TV Title Tournament were announced this past weekend on Shakedown TV. They are:
-----Cody Deaner vs. John McChesney
-----Preston Wyatt Parks vs. Andrew Davis

-The other 2 matchups will be announced this coming weekend on TV. OR, you can just move on over to Pineapple Jack's in Rochester this Sunday (Oct.12th) and see for yourself! Watch this week's episode of Shakedown TV at 3 PM, then stay to watch the TV Title Tournament beginning at 4. It's like a 2-for-1 deal! Sorta......

-Anyone who saw this weekend's match between Eric Everlast and Troy Buchanan has to be scratching their heads...why did Troy do what he did? I'm still trying to get answers, but nobody's returning my calls.

-Meanwhile, Ed Delaney is STILL looking for his first win. He said recently that he's been studying tapes of Troy Buchanan in order to improve. I reckon' there were no tapes of Terry Funk, Harley Race or Ric Flair available. Ed better watch a LOT of tape in the next few days, because Mikhail Ruminov is next on his dance card.

-Been trying to catch up on some recreational reading lately. Now reading Milton's "Paradise Lost"

-Getting back to the title tournament. NOBODY is "awarded" a belt in P6W, they have to EARN it. It won't be easy, for a wrestler will have to win 3 matches to become the inaugural (and first) TV Champ. Will brute force, stamina, cunning or a combination of the three carry the day?

-Why was the Caesar at ringside with a notepad and pen watching the Preston W. Parks vs. Chris LaPlante match? Then again, maybe I'm better off not knowing. Who can figure out what that colorful (literally and figuratively) character is plotting?

-Our marketing department is busier than ever. They're currently working on a can opener that is non-electrical, but needs no physical effort whatsoever to operate. It's kinda like a perpetual motion machine, I suppose. No timetable yet as for when it'll be available to the general public.

-As many cinema fans know, Yours truly makes his big-screen debut in the sci-fi/horror/film noir epic entitled BITEZ, which premieres this Thursday (October 9th) at the Market Arcade Cinema in Buffalo, NY. I have a brief, yet crucial role. In movie parlance, I guess I'm a "heel", but I suppose that's all relative in this day and age.

NEWS UPDATES FROM P6W - October

- The day is rapidly approaching when the first (and inaugural) Pier 6 Wrestling "Shakedown" TV Champion will be crowned. Well, not literally, "crowned", but he'll get a title belt.

Sunday, October 12 at Pineapple Jack's in Rochester. It'll be a one-day, 8-person tournament. You'll see a champion anointed. It's history in the making. I'm sure you can come up with other cliches.

There's no reason not to be there. The show starts at 4 PM. There is NO Bills' game that week (bye week), so you don't have to paint your face red, blue and white (but you can if you choose.) The next day is a legal holiday, so you can stay for the duration and party like it's 1999...or 1492......

In other words, if you're a real wrestling fan, you have no excuses for not being there.

- A good question asked by some. WHO will be the 8 participants in the tourney? The answer: you'll have to watch Shakedown TV this Sunday (Monday in Suburban Erie County) to find out some of the names...HOWEVER, those who watched this past weekend's edition of Shakedown TV heard one wrestler pretty much imply that he WILL be in the tournament, even though the Championship Committee had not yet officially told him so. He's no Jonny-come-lately to P6W, so maybe he's right.

- This weekend 's show also contains the inaugural (and first) "Pier 6 Brawl." The Brawl is a 3-way match with NO Disqualifications. It's Frank Zimmerman (with the mysterious Mia Mauler) vs. Canada's Andrew Davis vs. The Mastiff. What role will Mia play, if any, in this match? Also, there's no guarantee that all 3 of these competitors will be in the Title Tournament, so a win will sure look good on somebody's resume.....

- Is Troy Buchanan playing headgames with Eric Everlast? Troy challenged Eric to a match WITHOUT any of Eric's cronies from the O'Sullivan Clan at ringside. Why is Troy trying to inject "right and wrong" into this dispute? There is no morality in pro wrestling (some would say). It's no secret to observers of the local scene that Troy and Eric go back a long way, both as friends and foes. A lot of past history may be coming to the forefront when they meet Sunday on Shakedown TV.

- Speaking of the O'Sullivan Clan, Mikhail Ruminov is said to be a good friend of the nephew of former Russian President Vladimir Putin. Word on the streets of Moscow is that Putin (who is still a high-ranking government official) has been following the career of the Stalingrad Strangler very closely. Might he have plans for Mikhail the next time Russia invades another country without provocation?

- I've asked several people about rumors that P6W is developing it's own Energy Drink. Everyone is silent on the issue, but an anonymous source informs me that Corporate has been trading e-mails with a well-known Nutritional Research Firm about "product development", citing repeated mentions of "tangy orange flavoring".

- Bring extra money when you go to P6W on Sunday October 12 at Pineapple Jack's. We'll have an expanded merchandise table with lots of DVD's to purchase. Nobody with a functioning brain can seriously dispute that P6W videos are the best produced in this region. If you believe otherwise, then, in my opinion, you're an idiot.

- The Bum Fight Club...I mean seriously, what is it with these guys? Yes, they're tough, but they really have to do something about that body odor problem. Then again, if you live in a garbage dumpster, you have two strikes against you......

-Speaking of two strikes, we're proud of the wrestling talent assembled in the P6W lockeroom. As at least one "wrestler" recently found out, entry is hard to obtain, and if you do get in, that doesn't make you a lifer.

-"Big Rig" Brodie Lee is still serving his 30-day suspension for attacking referees, TV announcers, innocent bystanders, etc. Since the suspension was set down on Sept. 7th, it will expire very soon....perhaps TOO soon, for some......

- I don't get the fascination with pre-season (exhibition) sports. Watching them on TV when nothing else is on is one thing, but paying money to see a game where the starters won't even have 1/3 of the playing time baffles me. When they are playing, they're trying not to get hurt. And the teams aren't trying to win. I don't get it. I know why the teams do it, but why do people pay to see it? (Unless, of course, it's a tax write-off).

-As always, when going to Pineapple Jack's for a P6W TV Taping, get there at 3 PM so you can watch that week's edition of Shakedown TV. Plus, by arriving earlier, you have an excuse to drink more. Not that you need one...(Please drink responsibly. Designated drivers are suggested, unless it's Nick Bollea).

News Updates from P6W: September

- The next Pier 6 Wrestling Shakedown TV taping will be held on Sunday, October 12th at Pineapple Jack's, Spencerport Road, Rochester, NY. New starting time is 4 PM. Hey football fans; don't worry, the Toronto/Buffalo Bills have a bye that week. Even if you are a football-holic, you can still watch the games on the many TVs at Pineapple Jack's

- This show will feature the start of the Tournament to crown the first (and inaugural) Pier 6 Wrestling Shakedown TV Champion.

Yes, title marks (including me), the Premier Belt in P6W will be the TV Title. And why not? Pier 6 Wrestling is a TV-centered promotion; therefore, the TV belt should be the top belt. The concept flows naturally, like a river into the sea, birds into the air, and ketchup onto scrambled eggs.

- Our thanks to the fans who came out on September 7. Lots of wrestling fans, and lots of football fans (not surprising since it was opening Sunday for the NFL). Somewhat surprising to yours truly is that there seemed to be a disproportionate number of fans in Pineapple Jack's with Cincinnati Bengals jerseys. Not that there's anything wrong with that....Still waiting to see my first Ocho Cinco (?) jersey.

- Don't forget to order Uncle Ivan's Good Ol' fashioned, Extra-Buttery Buttermilk It's just like the kind your Aunt used to make before her gout started acting up. It'll be available at your local grocers once we start actually manufacturing the stuff.

- Backstage Interviewer Rob Sanderson is recovering nicely from his recent knee surgery. We don't know if Brodie Lee sent him any "get well" cards....which leads us to.....

- For those who missed the latest episode of Shakedown TV, "Big Rig" Brodie Lee has suspended for 30 days by the P6W Rule Committee due to repeated attacks on officials, as well as the aforementioned Rob Sanderson. P6W has made clear they will not tolerate any shenanigans from any wrestler, outside the shenanigans which should be occurring in the wrestling ring itself.

- For cryin' out loud, go to the merchandise page of this fine website. You can order DVDs of past episodes, and also really cool clothes/TV shirts/ hats. etc. Be the first on your block to have them; you'll be the envy of the neighborhood.

- A lot of the girlies in the crowd seem to like Canada's Own Andrew Davis. Maybe it's the airplane spin; I dunno.....

- If any wrestler/worker wishes to wrestle/work for P6W, please keep in mind that your attitude and how you conduct yourself in the lockeroom/on the premises are just as important as how many highspots you can do in the ring. Just a helpful hint that seems to get lost on some......

News Updates from P6W:

- The next Pier 6 Wrestling ShakedownTV taping will be held on Sunday, September 7 at Pineapple Jack's, Spencerport Road, Rochester, NY. New starting time is 3:35 PM. There will be at least one wrestler making his P6W debut. Can you guess which one?

- We'll have a newsletter coming out soon. It'll be sold in 4 issue sets. Every edition will be equivalent to a book three times the size of "War and Peace". Details soon...

- Don't forget to order Good Ol' ITI's Low-Sodium Missouri-Style Salad Dressing. It'll be available on the internet soon, and in the Unhealthy Foods section of your local grocer.

- Richie Derwaldt has been released from his P6W. We don't wish Mr. Derwald the best of luck in his future endeavors. We do wish he'd learn how to wrestle. Actually, we don't care if he does or doesn't.

- Drove to Japan last week to scout out new talent. The sushi there, as Superstar Rob Schulz would say, is AWESOME!

- If any wrestler/worker wishes to wrestle/woork for P6W, send a brief tape including an ENTIRE match, to the Talent Cordintor whose address is listed on www.pier6wrestling.com. (Women wrestlers should send their tapes directly to my attention, unless you're fat and ugly.) If your tape contains a brief promo, that's fine, but not necessary. Tapes canot be returned. We will not view more than 22 minutes of any tape, so if it's longer than that, edit it.

P6W Debut

They cheered. They were excited. They laughed. They cried. They were mesmerized.

They had the time of their lives.

Who were "they?"

"They" were the members of the Standing Room Only crowd that Bore Witness to the first Pier 6 Wrestling Live event, held on June 22nd at Pineapple Jack's in Rochester, NY.

And many of them will return for the second presentation, to be held in that same Hallowed Ground on Sunday, August 3rd, at 4 PM.

Was it pro wrestling at it's penultimate? Yes. Was it a spectacle, captured forever through the magic of television, that will live on for generations to follow? Again, yes.

And if you ask any of those in attendance- the fans, the wrestlers, the production people, announcers, bartenders, bar backs, bouncers, ring rats, raconteurs and Rastafarians who were there, they wouldn't have been anywhere else on that glorious day.

Yes, it was only one day out of thousands, but it was a special day. The sun shone a bit brighter. The colors were more distinct. The action was harder hitting. The food tasted better, and the drink tasted sweeter.

It was an awakening. A catharsis. A metaphysical epiphany.

It was a Groove Thang.

Do you hear that thunder in the distance? It's a train ready to start rolling, it's a jet ready to take off, it's a monster truck drooling at the sight of a used Camry about to be crushed. It is an epoch ready to occur, an era ready to start, a new chapter in the history of Our Great Sport about to be written.

Mojo has been activated. Ain't no turning back now, for pro wrestling is about to enter a New Golden Age.

You can be there, or you can let This Happening drift on by, unaware of the climatic change which is about to ensnare grappling as we know it. Blink, and you may miss it. Bandwagon jumpers may be welcome, but there may be no room at the inn.

Next to God, Country and Family, this is your Most Important Priority in Life. You don't need no fortune-teller to sing that tune for you.

The time is now. The place is here. The Scene is Happening.

Sometimes you have to commit. You can't bet on the game after the final whistle, the last out or after the ref counts three. Be counted or be quiet.

Your Marching Orders have been issued. Sisters and Brothers, it's time to serve.

SHAKEDOWN

Pier 6 Wrestling - "ShakeDown" TV Tapings
ShakeDown will debut in the WrestleVision timeslot beginning on July 13th. It will not only air in Rochester...but also Buffalo, and Corning/Elmira.
Confirmed for the roster:

-the return to Rochester of the hellacious 'Sik' Rik Matrix
-independent superstar 'Fabulous' John McChesney
-the best announce team in wrestling - Scotty Bender and Ivan T. Impaler
-backstage interviewer - some guy named Rob Sanderson...
-and much much much more

"ShakeDown" will be a weekly 30-minute TV program that will be an old-school style of wrestling...fans in attendance at the TV taping will witness bonus happenings that will not appear on the TV show, but possibly as a DVD extra.

P6W is not "just another WNY fed." It's something that you haven't seen before, and not the same as what the other feds put out. In addition, in a variety of ways, you'll see things/people in P6W that you haven't seen in some time...

See you there this Sunday! 2 PM, Pineapple Jacks.

P6W is Coming

As if the independent wrestling scene wasn't already ON FIRE locally, it's about to get hotter. As in scorching. As in third-degree.

As in really, really hot.

Pier 6 Wrestling will be debuting at Pineapple Jack's in Rochester, NY with a TELEVISION TAPING on Sunday, June 22 at 2 P.M. (Tickets are only $10 in advance and can be ordered by calling 585-247-JACK).

The show will debut in Rochester on WBGT-TV (My 18) in the near future, from the good people who bring you WRESTLEVISION. A Buffalo affiliate will be announced shortly, pending approval from the FCC and the Interplanetary Association of Wrestling Broadcasters.

Pier 6 Wrestling is not intended as competition for other local feds; rather, it is unique in that it is "Television-Centered." Fans of Our Great Sport who attend the tapings will not only be enthralled, enriched, educated and utterly mesmerized by the fast-paced pro wrestling action, they'll appreciate a setting in the spirit of old-school TV wrestling. For those old enough to remember (or who have seen tapes), it will hopefully evoke memories of Georgia Championship Wrestling, U.S.W.A., or even the old NWF which ran in Buffalo & Rochester some 30 years ago. You can view the magic in person, and then witness it later in the Convenience of Your Own House!

Pier 6 Wrestling is fully licensed by the New York State Athletic Commission.

Pineapple Jack's is a unique setting; it offers drinks, a full food menu, and a wrestling ambience that makes you feel like you're watching matches from your favorite sofa at home. In addition, for those who choose to smoke, it also offers a separate Cigar Emporium where you can light up your favorite stogie during intermission without having to go outside. It's located on Route 31 at 485 Spencerport Rd. (near Long Pond Rd.) near the Rochester/Gates border.

Who will be appearing in P6W? Good question! Negotiations are ongoing as we speak; one name This Reporter CAN confirm is Sik Rik Matrix, former member of the prestigious PWI 500 and first-ever Buffalo Championship Wrestling Niagara Frontier Heavyweight Champ, who is the most hellacious athlete to ever come out of WNY. Other stars, from WNY and Southern Ontario, will be announced shortly.
